School Bus Driver


Snelling is hiring School bus drivers in North East Austin to transport students between home and school. They pick up & drop off students at designated stops at specific times along established routes and drop them off at school. They may also transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events. School bus drivers are typically employed part-time during the school year, often working split shifts of mornings and afternoons. $16.25 hr once trained with paid training $10.60 and assistance obtaining CDL Class B drivers license.

Primary responsibilities

  • Pick up & drop off students along scheduled routes at the designated bus stops at the scheduled time every day to transport students to or from home and school
  • Before stopping, operate stop sign and flashing lights on the bus to alert traffic.
  • Perform pre and post- trip inspections of the bus for safe operation. Report any problems on inspection report.
  • Maintain a clean bus.
  • May be required to assist some students to get on and off the bus.
  • Enforce rules of conduct and report any disciplinary issues.
  • Follow traffic laws and Federal, State and local transit regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures to ensure driver, passengers, nearby pedestrians & drivers are safe.
  • Evacuate students from bus as trained in case of emergency
  • Keep dispatch and passengers informed of possible delays or route changes.
  • Attends all safety meetings and all other required training.
  • Report accidents immediately to dispatch or management.
  • Call police during an emergency.
  • Drive students to field trips, sporting events, and other activities.
  • Completes written logs or reports as required for fuel, mileage, student counts, etc.


  • A minimum age of 23 and a clean driving record.
  • A current state issued driver’s license
    • a Class B CDL with Student and Passenger endorsements & DOT medical certification preferred.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Class B CDL with S and P endorsements & DOT medical certification immediately following completion of provided training.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background and drug screen
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
  • Reliable attendance
  • Ability to receive and carry out instructions to perform work
